Welcoming Lucas Schmidt to the Stahmanns Family

Schmidt will focus on building client relationships and moving Stahmanns Pecans forward.

As fall settles onto the Mesilla Valley and harvest season gets closer and closer, Stahmanns Pecans welcomes Lucas Schmidt to the team as head of sales. He is excited to dig his feet into the operations at Stahmanns, and brings years of experience with him.

“Stahmanns has a history of pursuing excellence. We don’t take shortcuts, and we don’t compromise on quality,” Schmidt said. “We grade hard and I love to show off our Fancy grade halves to friends and family.”

Right out of college, Schmidt started in the hazelnut industry in 2006 as a management trainee and was eventually promoted to head of sales for Hazelnut Growers of Oregon. In 2018, he joined the pecan industry.

“Getting to promote one of America’s great agricultural food products and helping raise awareness and visibility of pecans in foreign markets is exciting and one of the things I love about this job,” Schmidt said.

Now, he begins his journey with Stahmanns Pecans, who has been growing and processing pecans on the same farm in Southern New Mexico for over 90 years. Stahmanns Pecans supplies their estate-grown pecans in-bulk to customers around the world.

“We consistently ship a light-golden colored pecan that is eye-catching. Any company that is focused on quality and wants to buy pecans directly from the grower, should be talking to Stahmanns,” Schmidt said.
